Her mother is at a facility suffering from dementia and her brother is out of the country, planning to be a farmer. Other narrator is Freya: a damaged soul, trying to adapt in her daily life, keeping so many secrets, raising her 7 years old son Billy and she already lost the custody of other son Aspen who is 17 years old right now because of her neglecting, leaving him at the car when he was just a baby. Living in the place called the Clearing, a happy, beautiful community: a.k.a cult consisted of kidnapped children who are abused, starved, tortured and forced to do violent acts during to serve their sick, vicious, dangerous, psychopathic leaders. Maybe I should stop there because any words I’ll write will be not enough to describe my emotions ( they are truly are everywhere) about the book. I haven’t read so intense, disturbing, unconventional, intelligent, mind shattering, dark, but also emotionally charge, profound, thought provoking story for so long. My mind hurts! My spidey senses gave me resignation letter and I offered them all exclusive home quarantine holiday- watching reality TV and taking a break from too twisty, too smart books!
